Nick Marino Jr. grew up in Garland, Texas. Growing up with a large family, he is used to being surrounded by lots of family and delicious food. His family bonding around meals really shaped him into the man he is today.
When Marino Jr., was in college, he learned about Tom’s shoes and its one for one movement. It was then that he realized that he didn’t have to go into the non-profit world just to make a change, that he could do so with a business as well.
After graduating college, he met Andre Angel. Angel had the idea to help restaurants fill seats while simultaneously giving food to people in need. It was then that Marino Jr. decided to quit his job in the corporate world and join the start-up world.
Tango Tab is a mobile app that works with over 100,000 restaurants across the country. All a person has to do is click “Tango Tab It” on the app when they go to one of their partner restaurants in order to feed a local person in need.
The app is a brilliant way to take an action that millions of people do every day and cause it to help solve a detrimental social problem. As a result, Tango Tab has fed over 1.8 million people in need.
Tango tab also hosts Feed the City events on the second Saturday of each month. They bring together hundreds of thousands of people of all ages to make thousands of meals. The meals are then delivered to local organizations in order to disperse them to people in need.
The company has also started Harvest the City events to harvest crops with thousands of volunteers.
At Cadillac, we celebrate those whose passion and vision have reshaped our city, our lives and our culture - including Marino Jr.’s courage to inspire and help others.
His continuous passion makes him one of the dedicated and driving persons shaping Dallas/Fort Worth.
