Meet Jamey and Melissa Ice, entrepreneurs and philanthropists in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jamey grew up in Fort Worth and Melissa fell in love with the city on their first date.
The two opened up Brewed in Fort Worth to bring new drinks and food to their city to contribute to its culture. Without much restaurant experience, the Ices worked long hours doing everything from bussing tables to cleaning dishes the first few months the restaurant was open.
Around the same time, Melissa decided to start her nonprofit: The Net. The organization serves three different populations: the homeless, women and girls who have been sexually exploited and low income kids through an afterschool program.
After talking to a variety of homeless people in Lancaster, they realized many of them feel very isolated. It was then that Jamey and Melissa started “Bingo & Bagels,” an event that brings homeless people together to be able to socialize and share a good meal together.
As if this wasn’t enough, the couple decided to purchase a house and remodel it during this same time. The power couple soon realized that they loved transforming houses to re-sell. They have now remodeled 31 houses in their neighborhood, including their own. They are also currently restoring an 80,000 square foot warehouse.
The Ices hope to contribute to the culture and activity of Fort Worth through their variety of work.
At Cadillac, we celebrate those whose passion and vision have reshaped our city, our lives and our culture - including the Ices’ dedication to improving their community.
Their passionate endeavors make them two of the dedicated and driving persons shaping Dallas/Fort Worth.
