Meet Eric Pulido and McKenzie Smith, musicians and business owners in Denton, Texas.
Eric and McKenzie met in high school and, years later, decided to form a band in Denton called Midlake. After getting rejected for gigs for many years, they caught their big break and got a record deal and spent the next ten years travelling around the world performing. Midlake has now been in existence for 16 years and has released four records.
Later, Eric partnered with one of the fans of their band, Jason Lee, to create Barley & Board, a microbrewery and restaurant that serves American cuisine.
In 2012, McKenzie decided to collaborate with his studio partner and bandmate to open Redwood Studios. Their hope for the recording studio was to not only get local talent, but also talent from around the world to Denton to record.
The two later partnered together with another bandmate to open Paschall Bar, a largely successful specialty cocktail bar.
At Cadillac, we celebrate those whose passion and vision have reshaped our city, our lives and our culture - including Pulido and Smith’s entrepreneurship and musical work to further their city.
Their continuous passion makes them one of the innovative and driving persons shaping the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex.
